Poor posture and a slouched, slumped back can contribute to a wealth of physical dysfunction and pain in the back, hips, butt, thighs, legs, arms, shoulders, neck, hands, and well… you get the idea. In this video, Christie Powell, head of physical therapy at Catz Austin, explains how poor posture can cause low back pain and other issues like carpal tunnel and sciatica. This video and the rest of the series will give you easy tips and exercises to alleviate pain and discomfort. Often when we are sitting at the computer, watching TV or movies, playing video games, and driving, we slump into poor posture and a curved spine. This exerts pressure throughout the entire body and over time will severely weaken the shoulders and back so that sitting correctly becomes uncomfortable. The only way to improve posture is to begin changing your habits and to try and get in the habit of reminding yourself to sit up straight. A posture-buddy at work is a great idea so you can keep reminding each other, or you can set a timer or alarm on your desk. Sports Massage Demo 2: Quads, Thighs & Hamstrings Leg Muscle Athletic Tune-Up Austin In this video, sports massage therapist, Ron Vaughn, explains more about muscles in the legs and why loosening those muscles (specifically the quads, hamstrings, glutes and related muscles) is important to improve performance and to ensure safe exercise with limited injury. This video series shows how to improve leg muscle performance and looks at the quadriceps, hamstrings, glutes and other muscles in this video and in future videos will address the hamstrings, glutes, and other muscles surrounding the knee, thighs, butt and hips. Ron also explains how continued exercise on tight muscle can lead to pain or discomfort in the lower back, butt, legs, thighs, and core muscles. He demonstrates a unique technique for relaxing the hamstrings and provides instruction that other therapists may find useful.
