What massage would be better for getting rid of a lot of bad knots in my back?

I have bad knots in my shoulders, shoulder blades, neck, and upper back muscles. I have an option of getting a Swedish, or a Deep Tissue massage. Which would be mroe likely to get most of those knots out?

If you don’t currently see a massage therapist you may want to gradually work your way into deep tissue. It’s best to start out with a couple of swedish light to medium pressure massages before you have someone digging into your back. If you’re at all tensing up to try to brace yourself from too much pressure you’ll end up bruising your muscles and won’t feel any better.
Once you’ve gotten used to the massages at a moderate pressure you can have your therapist perform I.N.I.T. (also known as Trigger Point) where you treat the trouble spot directly.

Also, be honest with your therapist about whether the pressure is too much or if you’d like a little bit more. We’re always open to feedback.

Deep tissue. Swedish is a great type of massage, but if you want a massage that will concentrate on helping to relieve "knots", deep tissue is the way to go.
