My massage therapist quit the spa she used to work for, and now takes clients in her home.

I don’t mind tipping at a spa, because she probably only gets an hourly rate and most of the cost of the massage goes towards the facility’s rent/electricity/supplies, etc.

My question is: If I am going to her house for a massage, how much (if any) do I tip? She gets 100% of my fee, so is a tip necessary?

How much do massage therapists make in commission when working with a spa? Is 50/50 the norm? For a beginner fresh out of massage school would it be less? How much experience would you need to get a higher percentage from the spa owner?
I’d like answers specific to the city of Philadelphia but info about other cities would be great reference as well.

My husband has a cronic knot, or what feels like a tense ball in his back, left shoulder muscle. I have been trying to work it out with massage. It has been getting smaller but I can’t seem to totally work it out. Any suggestions? Also, the ball of tension seems to move around a little as I massage. Thanks!
